ARLINGTON, Va. (July 27, 2015) – Doorways for Women and Families has received $5,100 from the members of 100 Women Who Care Northern Virginia to help with its mission to create pathways for women and their families out of domestic violence and homelessness, which lead to safe and stable lives. This nonprofit was selected by the members of 100 Women Who Care during the May 7 meeting and received the contribution today during a check presentation ceremony.
“We are honored to be selected to receive this generous donation,” exclaimed Caroline Jones, President and CEO of Doorways. “This donation will be used to help the women and their families who enter our safe house, so they can receive the tools they need to lead safe and independent lives.”
“Being able to give to such a wonderful program and community based organization is such a heart warming feeling that each of us receive at 100 Women Who Care,” Nancy Mayes, co-founder of the local giving circle chapter. “Each quarter we come together and collectively pool our money in order to make one large donation that impacts a group doing good in our community. To know that we are making a difference in the lives of these women and their children is truly humbling.”
All Northern Virginia women are invited to join 100 Women Who Care Northern Virginia to help make a larger impact with charitable donations to local non-profits. For more information or to sign up, please visit www.100wwcnova.org.
